Academic | 1. Have been serving the institution for the last 29 years and is currently the HoD since March 2023. Earlier I served as the Head of the department from 2019-2022. 2. Invited as a Subject Expert in compliance of selection committee panel of Dibrugarh University to conduct interview. 2. Member of Academic Committee (currently) 3. As Member, UG BoS (NEP) and (CBCS), Dibrugarh University was actively involved in framing the CBCS syllabus and NEP syllabus. 4. As Member (VC nominee of Dibrugarh University), UG BoS (NEP) in North Lakhimpur College. 4. Involved in confidential work of the University. 5. Involved in the conduct of Practical Examinations as External Examiner 6. Invited as a Speaker by the department of Political Science of the college on World Water Day on 22nd March 2016. 7. Invited for delivering a speech on “Environmentalism and Human Thought” on the occasion of celebration of World Philosophy Day in 21st November 2019 by the department of Philosophy. |
Research | 1. Completed a UGC minor research project titled “Pattern of mosquito-borne diseases in Assam: A study in Medical Geography”(2005-2007).
2. Awarded PhD by Gauhati University in 2011 for the thesis titled “Mosquito-borne diseases and problems of health management in Dibrugarh district, Assam: A study in Medical Geography”. 3. Professional experience:
- Besides teaching, I had been involved in the IQAC since 2011 first as a Joint Co-ordinator. It was in this year that the college had its 2nd Cycle of NAAC assessment. I was engaged assisting the Co- ordinator (IQAC) in collecting, compiling and presenting the required data in the AQAR and RAR.
- I served the college as the IQAC Co-ordinator from 2014 to 2019. The college went through its 3rd Cycle of NAAC assessment under the RAF of NAAC in 2018. Therefore, a lot experience was gathered in quality enhancement process of the institution by organizing talks, symposia, awareness and sensitization programmes, extension activities, formation of the PTA, framing of the MDKGSU constitution, etc.
Subjects handled at UG Level:
- Geography, Multi-Disciplinary Studies, Environmental Studies and Travel and Tourism Management and add-on course on Fundamentals of Rural Development.
Areas of interest:
- Geomorphology, Social geography and Medical Geography
Honours and Awards:
- Awarded as the Best Teacher of MDKG College in 2022 and again in 2023 by the college.
Professional skill other than teaching:
- Efficient in working with MS Office
- Trained at NATMO on Digital Mapping and Geographical Information System using GIS softwares.
- Trained at IIT Kharagpur on OSSLMS using MOODLE, etc.
