A Talk on ‘Symbolism in marriage rituals in Vedic Culture’ was organised by the Department of Sanskrit, MDKG College on 31st March on Google Meet platform. The Talk was delivered by Dr Renu Kocchar, Asstt Professor on Vedic Studies, Dept of Sanskrit ,Pali , Prakrit & Oriental Languages, University of Allahabad. In her insightful and informative deliberation, Dr Sharma lucidly explained the symbolic interpretation of marriage rituals quoting relevant references from different Vedic and Post Vedic literature. Dr Sharma deliberated on how bride and groom were given equal honour and advised to be respectful to each other to sustain lofty family ideals. The program began with rendition of Mangalacharnam by Shikhajyoti Borthakur, Asstt Professor, Dept of Sanskrit, MDKG. Dr Anupjyoti Bharali, the Principal, MDKG, in his welcome address, appreciated the Sanskrit Dept for organising the talk on an interesting topic and wished that it would definitely give a good exposure to the participants . Dr Manashi Sharma, HoD, Dept of Sanskrit gave a brief introduction of the invited Speaker. The vote of thanks was offered by Puspa Gaonkhowa, Asstt Professor, Dept of Sanskrit, MDKG. The program was concluded with Shantipath by Shikhajyoti Borthakur.
