ABOUT:

The MDKG College NCC Unit has been assisting the female cadets in the college to become disciplined and committed citizens. It also boosts their determination to strive for national integration and nation building, develops their self-confidence, and inculcate human qualities amongst the cadets.The NCC offers cadets an opportunity to develop their leadership abilities through a variety of events like camps, drills, and community service initiatives. Cadets’ physical fitness is improved by regular exercise, sports, and outdoor activities while they participate in NCC events. Participants learn discipline and punctuality by engaging themselves in the various activities. They also get the chance to participate in a range of national events and activities. NCC places a strong emphasis on principles like commitment, honesty, and integrity in order to foster whole character development. Overall, NCC can assist girls’ physical, mental, and emotional health while imparting valuable life skills and values, hence having a beneficial impact on the holistic development of the cadets.

At present, the NCC unit of our college is affiliated to 63 Assam Girls’ Battalion NCC with its Group Head Quarter at Dibrugarh. The MDKG College NCC unit was founded in 1974 under the 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC. The total strength of the unit is 52 cadets (SW). By joining NCC, one can appear in ‘B’ & ‘C’ certificate examination. Since the year of its inception, the NCC unit of the college has been displayed praise-worthy and exemplary achievements by actively participating in different programmes like Republic Day Parade in New Delhi and other events of sports,etc.

  • To create a pool of trained, organized and motivated youth with various leadership qualities in every walk of their life and serve the Nation irrespective of career they choose.
  • To provide a sound environment conducive towards motivating large numbers of young people of India to join armed forces.

ACTIVITIES:

National Unity Day,2024:

In observance of National Unity Day on 31st October, the NSS Unit and NCC Wing of MDKG College organized a special event today, 29th October 2024, to honor the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, and his monumental role in unifying the country after independence. The event began with a solemn Pledge Taking Ceremony, where students, cadets, and faculty members took the Unity Pledge, committing to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. The pledge was a reminder of the importance of national harmony and the spirit of unity that binds the diverse fabric of India.

A key highlight of the event was a lecture delivered by Dr. Jogesh Das, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. Dr. Das spoke eloquently about National Unity Day and Sardar Patel’s pivotal contributions towards the political integration of India. His lecture emphasized how Patel’s vision, determination, and leadership helped unify the diverse princely states into a single nation, making him one of the founding architects of modern India.The event also featured an inspiring speech by NCC Cadet Khushi Lohar, who highlighted the significance of National Unity Day and reflected on the values of unity and integrity that Sardar Patel embodied. Cadet Lohar encouraged her peers to embrace diversity while fostering a strong sense of national solidarity.The day’s activities were a meaningful reminder of the enduring relevance of Sardar Patel’s principles and the importance of maintaining national unity in contemporary India. The observance was a success in fostering a deeper understanding of unity among the students and cadets, reinforcing their commitment to building a stronger, united nation.

Swachhta Abhiyan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2024

The cadets of MDKG College NCC Unit, under the 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC, carried out a successful Swachhta Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) along the banks of the Brahmaputra River. The initiative was aimed at ensuring a cleaner environment and promoting a greener future for the local community. The cadets actively participated in the drive by collecting plastic waste, garbage, and other litter from the riverbank, working together to restore the natural beauty of the area. Their efforts were focused on creating awareness about the importance of keeping our surroundings clean and protecting the environment from pollution. Through this initiative, the cadets not only contributed to the cleanliness of the riverbank but also reinforced the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The event served as a powerful reminder of the role each individual can play in maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment.

 

Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2024

The cadets of MDKG College NCC UNIT under 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC paid a heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation by offering floral tributes to the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi honouring his legacy of cleanliness, peace and non-violence. Honourable Finance Minister of Assam Ajanta Neog and respected District Commissioner of Dibrugarh Brkam Kairi were also present in that occasion,

On the occasion of Swachh Bharat Diwas, the cadets of MDKG College NCC Unit, under the guidance of 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC, paid a heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The cadets gathered at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and offered floral tributes in a solemn ceremony, honoring his legacy of cleanliness, peace, and non-violence. The event highlighted the importance of these values in building a better society.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Honourable Finance Minister of Assam, Smt. Ajanta Neog, and the respected District Commissioner of Dibrugarh, Shri Brkam Kairi. The event was a poignant reminder of the need to uphold the ideals of cleanliness and social harmony, aligning with the spirit of the Jan-Andolan for Swachhta. The tribute ceremony not only paid homage to Gandhi’s vision but also inspired the cadets and attendees to actively contribute to a cleaner, more peaceful nation.

Lecture on PM Jan Dhan Yojana(Investment) and Ujjwala(Gas) as a part of the awareness drive on the occassion of Swachh Bharat Diwas to celebrate the Jan-Andolan for Swachhta:

On the 25th of September, 2024, the NCC unit of MDKG College organized a special lecture to raise awareness about two of India’s most transformative welfare initiatives: the PM Jan Dhan Yojana and the PM Ujjwala Yojana. This event was held in conjunction with Swachh Bharat Diwas, celebrating the Jan-Andolan for Swachhta, and aimed at deepening the understanding of these schemes among the students and cadets.

A total of 35 enthusiastic cadets participated in the program, marking an engaging session dedicated to the dual cause of financial empowerment and clean living conditions. The event was graced by the insightful speech delivered by the CTO of the NCC Unit at MDKG College.

In her address, the CTO began by emphasizing that the government of India has introduced several life-changing welfare schemes designed to uplift the underserved and economically vulnerable sections of society. Among these initiatives, she highlighted two of the most impactful programs: PM Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and PM Ujjwala Yojana, which focus on financial inclusion and access to clean cooking energy, respectively.

Webinar among the NCC Cadets of MDKG College is organized on Important Movements of Freedom Struggle on the occasion of Independence Day, 2024

To mark the upcoming Independence Day 2024, the NCC Unit of MDKG College organized a webinar on 14th July, 2024, focusing on the Important Movements of the Freedom Struggle. The webinar aimed to educate the cadets about the key events and leaders that played a crucial role in India’s fight for independence.

The session was inaugurated by the CTO of the NCC Unit,MDKG College, Anwesha Saikia, who highlighted the importance of understanding the history of India’s freedom movement. Four of the cadets of the NCC unit, named Chnadita Borah, Parishmita Borgohain, Ankita Dihingia and Anupoma Kujur delivered their lectures on major movements such as the First War of Independence (1857), Non-Cooperation Movement (1920), Salt March (1930), and Quit India Movement (1942),etc. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the CTO of NCC unit, encouraging cadets to reflect on the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and to contribute to nation-building.

CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA, 2024:

On June 21st, 2024, MDKG College celebrated the International Yoga Day embracing the theme “Yoga for Self and Society”.A total of 33 participants of MDKG College NCC Unit , NSS and student union have attended today’s International Day of Yoga in our college. More than 80 NCC cadets from various schools of Dibrugarh were also present in this event. The goal of Yoga Mahotsav 2024 is to propel Yoga into a widespread movement, with a special emphasis on promoting women’s well-being and advancing global health and peace. The programme stressed the value of integrating yoga into everyday life and upholding physical and mental balance. The session lasted for over an hour, where every participant demonstrated enthusiastic participation and engagement. It turned out to be a very successful event.

CELEBRATION OF ENVIRONMENT DAY, 2024:

On 5th June,2024, the NCC Unit of MDKG College has organized a plantation drive on the occasion of the Environment day. The cadets cleaned the college’s boundaries, where the saplings would be planted, before the execution of the event. The Principal Dr. Nibedita Phukan, initiated the event by planting one sapling of Guava. Addressing everyone along with the cadets, she encouraged the cadets to plant more trees for the pure environment’s .The presence of Vice–Principal, other teachers and the cadets make the event a great success. Around 13 cadets participated in this event. They planted almost 10 saplings and watered them. Along with the plantation drive, there was an inauguaration of wall-magazine by the Principal on this auspicious occasion. An online photography competition was also organized on the occasion of World Environment Day by NCC unit of MDKG College, Eco-club and NSS unit and Supported by Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC),Science Technology & Climate Change Department, Govt.of Assam,Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India. The theme of the competition was Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. Principal announced the winners of the competition in presence of all on this auspicious occassion. The winners of the competition were as follows:

  3. Roshmi Murah, Dept of Political Science(4th sem)

CELEBRATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY,2023:

On 26th November, 2023 the NCC Unit of MDKG College in collaboration with the NSS unit of MDKG College has celebrated the Constitution day to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and to promote Constitution values among citizens. As a mark of respect, tribute was paid to Dr B R Ambedkar and all the other members of the Constitution committee for their great contribution to the nation and their pivotal role in drafting the constitution. . The Program began at 09:30 a.m. with the collective preamble reading (in collaboration with NSS Unit, MDKG College). A few reflections regarding Constitution Day and the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar were expressed in by CTO of NCC Unit, MDKG College Anwesha Saikia. At the end of the event, participants (cadets) were more aware of the need to uphold our nation’s constitution and more patriotic. A total of 12 cadets from NCC and 20 volunteers from NSS unit have participated in the occasion.

CELEBRATION OF WORLD OCEAN DAY,2023:

On 12th June, 2023 World Ocean Day was celebrated by NCC Wing of MDKG College. As a part of the event cadets made poster and express their views on world ocean day. The event was held from 9 am onwards.

CELEBRATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL DAY, 2023:

On 5th June, 2023 cadets of MDKG College along with NSS group and ECO Club of MDKG College initiated a plantation drive at adopted village of the College, ‘Nagakheliya Gaon’ from 8.30 am onwards. A total of 20 cadets were present in this occasion.

 

INSTITUTIONAL VISIT AND MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH BY BRIGADIER PM BALI, GROUP COMMANDER, NCC GROUP, DIBRUGARH:

On 27th April,2023 Group Commander of NCC Group Dibrugarh PM Bali visit MDKG College along with Commanding Officer, Administrative officer and other staff of 63 Assam Girls BN NCC, Dibrugarh at 12 pm and give a motivational speech. After that he interact with the cadets. Total 40 cadets were present.

 

SWACHATA ABHIYAN:

On 2nd February, 2023 cadets of MDKG College participated at Swachata Abhiyan. As a part of the Abhiyan, the cadets clean the roadside area near MDKG College, Dibrugarh. The Abhiyan started at 7 am. A total of 12 cadets participated in the event.

 

PUNNET SAGAR ABHIYAN:

63 Assam girls BN NCC, MDKG College has conducted Punnet Sagar Abhiyan on 4th of December,2022 at Dibrugarh near the river Brahmaputra. The main motive behind this Abhiyan is to create an awareness about water pollution among people. Cadets of MDKG College have performed a cleanliness drive and street play (nukkad natak) to sensitize the surrounding on pollution control, with special focus on Water Pollution. Approximately 25 common people and 15 NCC cadets were present during the play.

CELEBRATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY

On 26th November, 2022 NCC wing of MDKG college with NSS Unit, celebrated Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of constitution of India. The programme started at 10.30 am with pledge taking. Vice Principal Dr. Anju Bora explained the students about the importance of constitution day.  A total of 19 cadets from NCC wing participated in the programme. 

PUNEET SAGAR ABHIYAN

Punnet Sagar Abhiyan was conducted by 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC , MDKG, College from 12th August to 19th August, 2022. As part of the Abhiyan cleanliness programme was conducted in and outside the college campus and essay and poem writing competition was held among cadets. Total 35 cadets participated.

YOGA WORKSHOP

Yoga workshop was held on the eve of international yoga day on 21st june 2022 in collaboration with the Department of Assamese. 56 cadets of 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC MDKG College participated in this programme. 

INTERACTIVE SESSION ON ‘POCSO’

The NCC Unit of MDKG college conducted an interactive session on Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO )in collaboration with NSS Unit on 30th April, 2022.  AMOLI trust from Delhi  carried the session. A total of 35 NCC cadets participated in the programme. Manasi Dogre, the creative director of the AMOLI Trust was the resource person.

VISIT TO ASHA OLD AGE HOME

On 24th March, 2022 cadets of 63 Assam Bn NCC, MDKG College visited ASHA Old Age home and distributed essential commodities and sweets.

PUNEET SAGAR ABHIYAN

On 4th April 2022 cadets of 63 Assam Girl’s  Bn NCC, MDKG college participated in PUNNET SAGAR Abhiyan. As part of the programme, they clean the bank of the Brahmaputra River near Dibrugarh town. The Programme started at 6.30 am. A total of 18 cadets participated in the programme.

 International Vaccination Day

International Vaccination Day was observed on 16th March 2022, by NCC Cadets at police Reserve hospital and Graham Bazar vaccination centre. Total 17 cadets participated in this programme.

Republic Day Parade

  On 26th January,2022 Cadets of MDKG College participated in Republic Day Parade representing 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC, Dibrugarh. The parade was held at Chowkidingee Field, Milan Nagar. They got   second position in Marching contingent. 

 A total of 35 cadets participated in the parade.

 

HAR GHOR TIRANGA PROGRAMME

 The 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC , MDKG College  observed Har Ghor Trianga programme  from 11/8/2022 to 17/8/2022 . Total 27 cadets participated in the programme. They distributed flags to the people, shopkeepers, institutions in Dibrugarh Town.

Report on NCC Cleanliness Programme

On 26 December 2020, NCC Wing, MDKG College, Dibrugarh organised a ‘Cleanliness Programme’ in the college campus. The main purpose of this cleanliness drive was to clean the college premises and also to create awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its benefits. All total 25 NCC cadets of the college actively participated in the programme. Cadets cleaned the college campus by using brooms and mops. Cadets also cleaned the ‘Shahid Bedi’ in the college campus. They also picked up dry leaves and plastic wrappers lying scattered on the ground and threw them in the dustbin. After the cleaning was done for about 2 hours, all the cadets washed their hands. They were then provided refreshment. After that, cadets took oath to keep their home, locality and society clean. The programme was ended by singing NCC song.

2. REPUBLIC DAY CEREMONIAL PARADE, 2023:

The NCC Unit of MDKG College has participated in the Republic Day Ceremonial Parade at Police Reserve Khanikar, Dibrugarh. Total 26 no.s of cadets have participated in the parade and win the competition representing 63 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC, Dibrugarh.

3. SUO Chandita Borah has received the best cadet award 2023 (2nd position) under Dibrugarh Group.
