A field study for the students of 6th semester (Major in Philosophy) has been conducted and organized by Department of Philosophy of M. D. K. G. College ,today on 07/04/2025.A batch of students with teachers of the department have visited Shree 1008 Parswanath Digamvara Jain temple and one of the oldest Buddha Bihar of Theravadi Buddhism (Built in the year 1936) of North-East. Both the temple and the Bihar are situated in Graham Bazar, Dibrugarh.
Objective of the visit is to gain experiential and practical knowledge of Jainism and Buddhism as religion and philosophy .
Dr Mahesh Kumar Jain, President of Jaina Society of the temple and Vante Sumedhananda Mahathera have guided our students in Jaina temple and Buddha Bihar respectively.
Students have collected necessary information and knowledge through interview schedule and observation and discussion.Religious rituals, symbology,core values, tracing historical background of jainism and Buddhism in Dibrugarh District, Contribution to greater society by the jain temple society and the Buddha Bihar society,Religious converson, art , painting , structure of temple and Bihar, original sacred literature,status of women as seeker of salvation, impact of religion upon youth etc. are their subjects of observation and discussion.
