About the Department
The Department of Physics was established in 2016 along with five other departments in the extended building of the college as the new science stream. It began functioning with two teachers- Anirban Singha and Nayan Jyoti Sarmah and sixteen students opting for general course in physics. Major in Physics was introduced in the following session. Presently the department has a strength of four Assistant professors (three serving as regular and one as guest faculty).
Vision of the Department
The department envisions to
a. Provide quality education to girl students of the region and equip them with the knowledge and competence required to establish themselves in the ever rapidly changing world.
b. Endow its students with the necessary skills to adapt to any job or create employment for themselves as well as others.
Mission of the Department
a. To excel as a center for fostering research-oriented minds driven with
the enthusiasm to push the boundaries of knowledge in Physics.
b. To develop problem solving skills for dealing with real world
challenges.
c. To nurture all-round development of students in order to shape them
into responsible citizens

Physics serves as the cornerstone for understanding the fundamental laws that govern our universe, enabling us to comprehend the complexities of the natural world. Through our teaching, we aim to instill a deep appreciation for Physics and nurture the intellectual curiosity of our students.

Activities of the Department:
Organizing Seminars/Workshops/Symposium/Events and celebration of festivals:
(i) Observed National Science Day 2020 in collaboration with the Departments of Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Zoology.
(ii) An Invited talk on Black Holes was organized by the department of Physics, M.D.K.G. College, Dibrugarh on 1st July, 2021 in google meet platform
(iii) Observed National Science Day 2023 in collaboration with the Departments of Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Zoology.
(iv) The first extension program on “Learn science with Fun” was successfully organized by the Department of Physics at Mankata High school on 18th may, 2023
(v) A Parent Teacher Meet was organized by the department of Physics on 14th October,2023.
(vi) Observed National Science Day 2024 in collaboration with the Departments of Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Zoology.
