Activities of the Department:

Organizing Seminars/Workshops/Symposium/Events and celebration of festivals:

A national webinar was organized by the Department of Computer Science and IQAC of MDKG COLLEGE in association with Kaziranga University on the 22nd of October, 2020 from 03.00 P.M. onwards. This Co-curricular activity is in concurrence with systematic approach towards raising general awareness and career options in new emerging technologies on various fields of computer Science among the students. Details are given in the link.

Lecture Series:

In 2020 during Covid 19 pandemic, the computer science departments of various colleges under Dibrugarh University including us jointly conducted online classes for all students on a single platform (google classroom). This benefitted the students from all participating institutions as they were mentored by teachers having different specializations.

National Workshop on Computer Literacy:

A workshop was organised by the Department of Computer Science in association with IQAC of MDKG COLLEGE from the 26th of May to 28th of May, 2022. This Co-curricular activity is in concurrence with systematic approach towards raising computer literacy, overview of emerging industrial and research trends and career options in the field of computer Science among the students.

Online lecture series on Web Technologies:

Online lecture series on Web Technologies was organised by the Department of Computer Science, of MDKG COLLEGE, Dibrugarh in collaboration with Department of Computer Science of TINSUKIA COLLEGE, Tinsukia from the 1st of JULY to 3rd of JULY, 2022. This lecture series is intended to teach the basics involved in publishing content on the World Wide Web. This includes the ‘scripting language of the Web’ such as javascript; parl as a web programming language due to its text manipulation capabilities and rapid development cycle. It basically used to handle encrypted Web data, including e-commerce transactions. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are the main coding files used to lay out a website and its design.

Workshop on “Network Security:

A workshop on “Network Security “was organised by the Department of Computer Science of MDKG COLLEGE on the 9th of November and 10th of November, 2023. This Co-curricular activity is in concurrence with systematic approach towards raising computer literacy against cyber criminology, master defences against phishing, smshing, vishing, Identity theft and aware students about various feature on windows such as windows defender, firewall protection as a way to safeguard their computer and mobile phones.

National Technology Day, 2022

A one-day hands-on training session titled “How to create document in MS-Word and How to create PowerPoint presentation” was organized for the BA and B.Sc. second semester students to celebrate the occasion of National Technology Day on 11th May, 2022. The programme was organised by the department of Computer Science, M.D.K.G. College. It was an in-house program and was conducted in two sessions:

• In the ICT laboratory in new campus for B.Sc. students
• In the language (computer) laboratory in the old campus for B.A. students.

The resource person for the program was Ms. Rimpi Sarma, Assistant professor and HOD, Department of Computer Science, M.D.K.G. College. The target audience were the students of second semester of B.A. and B.Sc. programmes.

National Technology Day, 2023

An Invited talk Programme on “5G and Cognitive radio network” was held at MDKG College on 11th May,2023 on the occasion of National Technology Day Organised by Department of Computer Science in collaboration with IQAC, MDKG College. The Programme was inaugurated by Dr. Nibedita Phukan , Principal of the college. In her inaugural Speech , Dr. Phukan explained how national technology day was evolved as it is realised in the national scenario. Ms Utpala Borgohain , assistant Professor of the Centre for Computer Science and Application , Dibrugarh University acted as a resource person of the talk programme .In her Speech Ms Borgohain described about the evolutionary stage of 5Gand cognitive radio network from its very root of 1G in an algorithmic manner. She illustrated the magnification data of 5G spectrums all over the world focusing on developed and developing countries of the world with pros and cons. The resource person cleared the doubts raised by the participants of the programme. At the end of this program, the completion certificates of add-on courses were distributed among the students. The programme ended with vote of thanks from the organiser.

National Technology Day, 2024:

An Invited talk Programme on “National Technology Day” was held at MDKG College on 11th May,2024 on the Organised by Department of Computer Science . Dr. Utpal Sut , assistant Professor and IQAC co-ordinator of MDKG College , Dibrugarh acted as a resource person of the talk programme .In his Speech Dr. Sut described about the technological growth of India in context of economics. He had inspired students about learning new technologies in the field of computer Science. The resource person also interacted with students regarding this topic. At the end of this program, the completion certificates of add-on courses were distributed among the students. The programme ended with vote of thanks from the organiser.

Extension Activity At Amolapatty Girls’ High School, Dibrugarh :

A one-day hands-on training session titled “How to create PowerPoint presentation” was organized in Amolapatty Girls’ High School,Dibrugarh as per their requirement as an extension activity of Department of computer Science ,MDKG college on 24th May, 2023 from 2:00pm.
The resource person for the program was Ms. Rimpi Sarma, Assistant professor and HOD, Department of Computer Science, M.D.K.G. College. The target audience were the students of sixth class of Amolapatty Girls’ High School, Dibrugarh.
